For road, gravel and MTB riding

Muc-Off Dark Energy is suitable for road bikes, gravel bikes and mountain bikes. Use it for racing, training or everyday riding when a clean, quiet and efficient drivetrain is important.

The wax formula is particularly suited to dry and dusty conditions, while it can also be used in damp conditions. According to the manufacturer's instructions, the product is intended for dry to damp conditions. After riding in wet conditions, the chain should be cleaned and re-lubricated.

How to use Muc-Off Dark Energy Chain Wax

1. Clean: thoroughly clean the drivetrain, including the chain, cassette, chainrings and derailleur pulley wheels. Make sure everything is completely dry. On a new chain, fully remove the manufacturer's factory grease.
2. Shake: shake the bottle thoroughly before use.
3. Apply: apply one drop of wax to the inside of each chain link on the lowest section of the chain. Start at the quick link and complete two full laps of the chain.
4. Run through the gears: slowly shift through the gears to distribute the wax across the cassette cogs.
5. Allow to dry: leave the wax to dry for at least 12 hours. In cooler conditions, approximately 24 hours is recommended for best results.
6. Re-apply: in dry conditions, when the wax has worn off and the chain becomes louder, wipe the chain with a microfibre cloth and re-apply.
7. After wet riding: clean and re-lubricate the chain immediately after riding.

Important before first application

Proper chain preparation is essential when using wax-based chain lubricant. Before the first application, completely remove factory grease, oil and any previous lubricant from the chain. The drivetrain must be completely dry to ensure proper wax adhesion and performance.

PFAS and PTFE free formula

Muc-Off Dark Energy is formulated without PFAS and PTFE. The formula also contains a plant-derived wax which Muc-Off describes as inherently biodegradable.
