How to Clean Your Bike Indoors?
Cleaning a bike indoors can be a hassle and a very messy job. But it doesn’t have to be! If you live in an apartment, you may feel that your options for cleaning your bike are quite limited.
Don’t worry, we have a simple and easy solution to clean your bike indoors and keep it looking great and running smoothly—without using water!
Read below for a quick guide with tips to keep your bike clean and in top shape from the comfort of your apartment.
What you’ll need:
- MO-94
- Bike mat
- Bio Chain Doc
- “Waterless” bike cleaner
- Chain lube
- Microfiber cloth
- Brush set
Step 1: Find a suitable space
The first thing you need to do is find a suitable spot. Ideally, choose a place that you can ventilate well after cleaning. Before you start, lay down a mat to protect the floor and collect any dirt or grease.
Step 2: Clean the chain
In our store, you’ll find several solutions for cleaning the chain. Systems like Barbieri and Muc Off Bio Chain Doc are ideal tools for indoor chain cleaning. The combination of powerful brushes and effective cleaner will work wonders on a dirty chain. The system collects all the dirty grease and oil, and you can easily wash it out afterward. After running the chain through the “cleaner,” wipe it down with a cloth to remove any excess solution.
Step 3: Clean the rest of the bike
Now it’s time to clean the rest of the bike. This is where waterless cleaner comes in. Just spray it on! With Muc Off high-performance waterless cleaner, there’s no need to rinse—it does all the work for you. After spraying the entire bike, wait a moment, then simply wipe away the dirt with a microfiber cloth.
Step 4: Protect the bike
Use Muc Off MO-94 to spray all bolts and components to prevent rust and corrosion, which will extend the bike’s life. Be sure to cover the brakes (pads or discs) when applying the protective spray. If you have disc brakes, we recommend using disc brake covers to prevent overspray.
Step 5: Final step, apply chain lube
Lubing the chain will keep your bike running smoothly and make pedaling easier. It will also extend the chain’s lifespan. When applying chain lube, ensure you apply it directly to the bottom of the chain (inside the links), covering each link while you backpedal.
Once you’re done applying, continue backpedaling while gently holding a cloth against the chain to remove any excess lube.
With these simple steps, your bike will always look great and perform smoothly, even when you’re cleaning it in your apartment! Happy cleaning and enjoy the ride!
