The revised edition of this ski touring guide builds on its predecessor, first published in 2011. The updated edition enhances the original 78 ski touring routes with an additional 40 destinations, ranging from the mid-mountains to the highest peaks of the Austrian Alps, including the 3,798-metre Grossglockner. All terrain changes have been updated and described along with route and skiing information for as many as 120 summits. Many of them include suggestions for extending your ski touring adventure and offer options for ascent and descent from neighboring peaks, expanding the total selection to as many as 180 destinations. The guide covers tours of medium difficulty in both fitness and technique, and with the additional options described, they are suitable for a wide range of ski touring enthusiasts. Although some peaks are suitable for complete beginners, the ski touring guide also presents challenges for those who master skiing in the most demanding terrain. The guide describes tours that can be completed in one or two days, as most starting points are accessible within an hour of the Karawanken Pass. The book also notes the suitability of each destination for snowboarders.
