The first thing that stands out on the Alivio groupset is its new design. Compared to previous groupsets, it has a more aggressive appearance and low-profile shape. The rear derailleur clearly showcases this new look. Beyond the new design, the rear derailleur now includes Shimano's Shadow RD technology. This is known from higher-level groupsets, such as SLX and Deore. Shadow RD is designed for more aggressive riding. Thanks to its low and one-way tension, the derailleur won't drop into the chain under heavy conditions.
The long cage allows a range from 11 to 36.
