The brand new Santa Cruz MegaTower mountain bike is a fusion of large 29" wheels and a powerful 160 mm suspension system. This is a mega machine, suitable for serious enduro racers as well as demanding riders who want to tackle the trails on their home terrain. With its roots in the Hightower and adding the VPP suspension with lower link technology from the DH-specific V10, the MegaTower is the most advanced 29er in the Santa Cruz family.
Suspension Tuning
The frame has enough progressivity built in so you can experiment with shock swaps. If you prefer the suppleness and responsiveness of a coil shock, the frame has plenty of support for the end of the stroke. Conversely, you can also fit an air shock and gain some liveliness to the bike.
Want a Longer Chainstay:
Simply swap the dropouts, rear brake adapter and adjust the suspension settings to gain 10mm on the chainstay. The MegaTower also allows two geometry settings - with the slacker position you gain reach, lower the bottom bracket and slightly increase the progressivity of the rear suspension.
Complete Controllability
The MegaTower is not just an aggressive, uncompromising bike. It was built with plenty of common sense. The 76-degree seat tube angle gives you good climbing support, a roomy cockpit and the 65-degree fork angle makes descents easier. Inside the frame there is plenty of room for a water bottle so you can stay hydrated even on longer rides.
At the same time, the rear shock is well protected by a mudguard. The frame is wrapped in protection on the downtube for transport and a lower shield to protect against rocks. A textured rubber chainstay guard keeps things running quietly.
