Route planning by popular cyclist paths

Since the establishment of the Garmin Connect™ online community, cyclists have uploaded ride data for millions of kilometres of routes. It's time to use this data for Trendline route planning technology. When the Edge 1030 creates a ride, it finds the most suitable route by choosing between roads (and trails) that cyclists use most frequently. You can also use the improved and redesigned Route Builder in Garmin Connect, with which you can create additional planned routes suitable for cycling based on popularity data.

Advanced navigation with Garmin cycling map

Garmin guides you on roads and off-road. The Edge 1030 cycling computer comes with a pre-loaded Garmin cycling map, and also includes turn-by-turn navigation and new navigation alerts that notify you of sharp corners ahead. While cycling, you can display elevation data, view destinations and search for addresses. You can also create a planned route using return route planning. In the Edge 1030, simply enter the distance and initial direction, and the device offers up to three planned routes for you to choose from. Of course, it's also smart enough to guide you back to your planned route if you deviate from it. When planning long rides you can rely on the Edge 1030. The battery powers it for up to 20 hours, and with the new integrated Garmin Charge battery pack the Edge can handle rides as long as you can.

Smart connectivity

With the Edge 1030 you stay connected in other ways too. Respond to missed calls or text messages with pre-written messages4, such as 'I'll be home soon'. Spare family, friends and even other cyclists you ride with worry and let them track your rides in real time with LiveTrack and GroupTrack features. Use automatic uploading to Garmin Connect, download free apps and tools from the Connect IQ™ store, and connect to Wi-Fi® network for easier firmware updates.

Strava Live Segments feature helps you push the limits of performance

Garmin and Strava give you even more ways to test your performance limits. You can still receive alerts when segments start and end and compete virtually with friends in Strava with the redesigned second comparison that shows how well you perform. But now you can also see how your current performance compares to your personal record, your latest performances or your friends' personal records. In addition, with the new segment exploration feature, you can view popular and leading segments nearby directly on the Edge device.

From planning to results with TrainingPeaks

With TrainingPeaks from the Connect IQ store, using planned training on every ride is as simple as turning on your Edge 1030. The pre-loaded app downloads daily training to the Edge device. TrainingPeaks guides you through training in real time, including target intensity and interval duration. You can view favourite statistics in various customisable data fields on one clear screen.
