Atomic Backland XTD 110 – Versatile Freeride Touring Ski Boots
Atomic Backland XTD 110 is a versatile touring ski boot for skiers who want comfortable ascents and reliable control on the descent. A flex of 110 provides a balanced combination of support, responsiveness and comfort, making the model suitable for classic touring, freeride skiing and use with wider touring skis.
The medium-wide 100 mm last offers plenty of room for all-day use, while the 74-degree cuff range of motion allows for a long, natural stride. Compared to the stiffer Backland XTD Carbon 120, the 110 model is slightly friendlier and less demanding, yet still stiff enough for confident descents.
74° Range of Motion for Efficient Walking
The Frictionless Mirror Pivots system uses symmetrically placed pivot points that allow the cuff to move smoothly without unnecessary resistance. The large range of motion improves efficiency on steep climbs, long approaches and gentler traverses.
The Free/Lock 4.5 mechanism allows for an easy switch between walk and ski modes. In the locked position it firmly connects the cuff and shell, while the open design makes it easier to remove snow and ice.
Flex 110 for Balanced Performance
Flex 110 provides enough support for precise handling of touring and wider freeride skis, while remaining more comfortable and forgiving than stiffer, race-oriented models. The Energy Backbone reinforcement increases the stability of key areas of the boot and helps improve edge grip.
The polyamide shell and cuff provide a good balance between low weight, durability and consistent flex. The Prolite construction further reduces the weight of the boot, while key stress zones remain reinforced for reliable power transfer.
Hybrid Overlap and Cross Lace 2.5
The Hybrid Overlap construction combines an open entry with a partially overlapping shell. This design makes putting on and taking off the boot easier and allows the shell to grip the foot evenly when closed.
The Cross Lace 2.5 system uses a Z-shaped cable routing specifically designed for the Backland XTD models. When closed, it evenly distributes pressure across the forefoot, stabilizes the heel and improves control while skiing.
100 mm Last and Memory Fit
The 100 mm Touring Last offers a medium-wide fit, or Medium Volume. It suits average-width feet and skiers who want enough comfort for long tours without too loose a feel on the descent.
Memory Fit technology allows the shell, cuff and liner to be heat-molded to the individual shape of the foot. Professional bootfitting can reduce pressure on sensitive areas and improve heel hold and power transfer.
3D Gold Tour Liner
The heat-moldable 3D Gold Tour liner provides a good balance between cushioning and foot hold. The anatomically shaped ankle and heel area improves stability, while the Dura Shield protective layer increases resistance to everyday wear.
The perforated construction with a waterproof, breathable membrane helps keep feet dry and warm. The liner can be hand-washed and dries quickly, which is practical on multi-day ski touring trips.
Skywalk Sole for a Secure Stride
The rubber Skywalk Touring Norm sole provides grip on snow, rock and harder surfaces. The curved profile allows a more natural stride, and up to 25% of the sole's rubber material is recycled.
The sole is made to the ISO 9523 touring ski boot standard, and metal tech inserts allow use with pin touring bindings.

The Atomic Backland XTD 110 is compatible with pin (tech) touring bindings, Atomic Shift bindings, and multi-norm MN and MNC bindings that support the ISO 9523 touring sole standard. It is not automatically compatible with all classic alpine or GripWalk bindings, so the standard and correct adjustment of the specific binding model should be checked before use.
Who Are They For?
The Atomic Backland XTD 110 is designed for ski tourers who want a single boot for comfortable ascents and reliable descents across varied terrain. It is suitable for classic touring, freeride skiing and use with wider skis, especially for skiers who prefer a somewhat softer and more comfortable feel than models with a flex of 120 or higher.
